Sabotage is one of the problems who’s grade seems to come into question more than most, especially lately, so it will be interesting to see what people have to say about this one.
It’s pretty sustained climbing but at 8a+ has no show stopper moves in it which I guess is why it’s quite hard to grade and why people’s opinions seem to vary on its grade. Malc grading his new link-up, La Saboteur, at 8a+ recently definitely added weight to the debate as finishing Sabotage up Le Tour De Technique which in itself is solid 7b+ does really question whether Sabotage is 8a+ on its own.

I’ve been meaning to get some kind of grade poll since I built the original Dumby site and its taken until now for me to actually get something working mainly down to my incompetence and laziness. This may not be the format that I keep the polls in but we’ll see how they go for a while.
I’m planning to stick up a new poll every couple of weeks and will pick from problems of all grades.
If there is a general consensus that a specific problem is easier or harder than I have got in my topos I’m going to change my topos accordingly.
These polls are not intended to get anyone’s back up so please don’t take them to heart if you don’t agree with the general consensus but if you have an opinion please vote and comment as it is always good to hear what people think on grades. In the long run it will hopefully help to produce more accurate topos with grades that are formed from a consensus of the climbers that climb at Dumbarton all the time. Once again this is NOT an upgrading or downgrading mission.
